Basic Gravy and Curry Powder

Indian cooking is all about the combination of spices. I have not met a single person who has not posed the question "Do you know how to make curry?". Curry seems to be the name given to almost any Indian dish. So lack of a better term here are the basic ingredients for any "curry" dish.



For the gravy part

Simple Gravy
onions
garlic
ginger
red chillies
Usually all of the above are sauted in a little bit of oil and blended into a paste

Curry Powder
Corriander seeds
cumin
pepper
red chillies
cinnamon (optional)
cloves (optional)
cardamom (optional)

Dry roast and powder. A coffee grinder comes in handy


Once you have this handy cooking chicken/fish/vegetables is a breeze
